What will happen if Putin captures Ukraine?

Vladimir Putin (69) has been preparing for war with Ukraine for months and has moved his army into position!

Within days, his troops were to take over the country and occupy the capital, Kiev. However, the resistance of the Ukrainians is great and Putin’s troops are making little or no progress.

More and more people are wondering what will happen if Russia loses the war or wins it.

What will happen if Putin loses the war against Ukraine?

According to security and diplomatic officials, there is a threat of an internal putsch and Putin’s downfall. After all, Putin has made the conquest of Ukraine his main foreign policy goal. If he fails, he would suffer a huge defeat.

By launching a war against Ukraine, Putin has completely isolated his country from the rest of the world. The damage to Russia’s economy is in the billions! “Failure could cost Putin his position,” – says historian Prof. Andreas Rödder (54).

Russian-born entrepreneur Alex Konanykhin (55) has already set a bounty on the Kremlin leader’s head: one million US dollars for those who capture “war criminal Putin” – Konanykhin wrote on Twitter.

Dimitri Medvedev (56) is being considered as a potential successor to Putin. The deputy head of Russia’s Security Council has good contacts in the Kremlin. And he has been president before, namely in 2008-2012. According to experts, the most important goal of the next Kremlin leader must be to bring Russia out of isolation.

“The overriding task must be a new beginning in relations between Russia and the West,” – Rödder says.

However, Putin is not only threatened with a putsch and imprisonment, but even death! He has made too many enemies. The war and sanctions have further increased the anger of many Russians (including oligarchs). For fear of assassination, Putin is constantly changing his location, isolating himself even from ministers.

“Go, get him” (“Go, get him”), U.S. President Joe Biden (79) said at the end of his Wednesday address to the nation. It sounds like a call for an armed attack against Putin.

What will happen if Putin wins the war against Ukraine?

Russia expert Gustav Gressel (43) of the European Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin warns that in that case, Ukraine, Russia and the world would no longer be the same.

Putin’s campaign would be a “war of attrition against Ukraine’s identity.” The Kremlin ruler would want to get rid of artists, journalists, anti-corruption activists, etc., once and for all.

Even if so far Russian troops are not making progress as expected: Putin is already making preparations to seize power in Ukraine. On Wednesday, he ordered the arrival of former Ukrainian president and Kremlin puppet Viktor Yanukovych (71) in Minsk, Belarus. One scenario is that Yanukovych is to become Putin’s governor in Ukraine after Kremlin forces capture Kiev.

A possible consequence would be the establishment of a brutal regime in Ukraine, including the creation of concentration camps for Putin’s opponents. “It sounds unbelievable, but that’s how his rhetoric and actions so far should be interpreted,” – Gressel says.

Experts also expect changes in Russia. Western sanctions against Russia would most likely be maintained. This means that the country would have to be much more self-sufficient than before (also in the production of cars, machinery, etc.). This would lead to less prosperity and more frustration in the country.

Toxic mixture!

Expert Gressel: “Such a terrorist state would be far more impulsive and thus far more dangerous to the West than the Soviet empire. In that case, armed conflicts on the borders and the danger of war with NATO would be “many times greater than at present.”

Therefore, the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko (50 years), appealed to the whole world to support Ukraine in its fight against Putin: “Alone we will die!
