Germany: Three months in prison for a hateful text message to a doctor promoting vaccination

On July 4, Bild am Sonntag reported on family doctor Christian Kröner (40) from Neu-Ulm (Bavaria). He has vaccinated 111 children and adolescents, saying: “I vaccinate all children from the age of 12, if they and their parents want it.”

The next day Rudolf P. (58), who opposes vaccination, sent him the following text message on his cell phone: “How about turning on your brain? You are killing these children and adults with this MRNA!!!! filth. You murderers.” The doctor condemned the vaccination opponent, as did 280 other people who sent him the offending messages. To the editors of Bild he revealed: “I was insulted and threatened for months because I vaccinate against coronavirus. I can’t stand it!”

Rudolf P. was the first to stand trial – and he confessed to everything. The man already has five previous convictions and has received several suspended sentences for driving without a license, as well as resisting and insulting police officers. As a result, the judge handed down a harsh sentence: three months in prison for the insult without the possibility of parole. The justification stated: “Doctors do not deserve to be called murderers. It goes beyond the scope of free speech.” P. expressed remorse: “I’m sorry. I should have turned on my own brain.”
