A digital vaccination certificate – also called a digital vaccination passport – is initially valid for twelve months, according to the Federal Ministry of Health on its website zusammengegencorona.de. “Depending on the observed duration of action of the vaccines, this period should be adjusted or a booster vaccination should be offered.” There are discussions about limiting the validity period to nine months on a uniform basis across the EU.
The certificate of recovery, on the other hand, is not valid for that long in Germany. The prerequisite for such a certificate is a positive PCR test. According to the Ministry of Health in Germany, the test must have been performed at least 28 days and at most 180 days ago. Only during this period is one treated as a healer in Germany. The regulation applies across the EU, the European Commission says on its website.
