German government wants to significantly increase the importance of coronavirus antibody test!

The federal government wants to significantly increase the importance of the coronavirus antibody test! It is soon to be used as proof of infection in people who have contracted the virus unknowingly. For people who have passed coronavirus, you only need to be vaccinated once to get a full vaccination.

Spahn in favor of raising importance of coronavirus test

Health Minister Jens Spahn (41, CDU) explained on BILD: “Many people have been infected without realizing it. Thanks to a high-quality antibody test, this can now be detected.” Therefore, according to Spahn, in the future “everyone will be considered fully vaccinated who can prove with an antibody test that they have been infected and in addition to that they have been vaccinated once.” In this way, even more people willing to be vaccinated would quickly regain their freedom.

Health Ministry in Germany announces new rules

The Ministry of Health in Germany says the new rule will be announced immediately on the Paul Ehrlich Institute website and will be effective in Germany from that point on. Vaccination rules will not need to be adjusted.

However, the costs of the antibody test are not covered. They currently amount to about 20 to 25 euros.

In order to obtain cured status (6 months after infection), a positive PCR test is still required as proof. Since it is not possible to determine when someone was infected and how good the protective effect is, even with high-quality antibody tests, they are not yet accepted as proof of “cured” status.
