Since December 2, the energy provider gas.de/Grünwelt no longer supplies gas to its customers! The reason given by the energy company gas.de was the “historically exceptional price development on the natural gas market”.
Recently, the gas price for deliveries increased by up to 400 percent compared to the previous year. The company did not disclose how many customers were affected.
Consumer protection authorities are advising customers to cancel direct debit and standing order authorizations for gas.de and Grünwelt.
The current meter readings should then be reported to the responsible primary supplier, says energy law expert Holger Schneidewindt of the NRW consumer advice center. The primary supplier is the company that supplies the largest number of customers in the respective grid area.
Consumers do not have to worry about continuity of gas supply, according to German consumer protection agencies. They are automatically supplied by the primary supplier.
In this case, customers pay the local base tariff, Schneidewindt said. “If no change is made, after three months they automatically switch to the basic supply tariff,” – The Check 24 portal expert explained.
Upon inquiry by the editors of the daily Bild, the gas.de company stated that it was insolvent. According to the comparison portal Verivox, this does not apply to Grünwelt Energie’s electricity customers.
