Cuxhaven County child dies two days after COVID-19 vaccination

A 12-year-old child from Cuxhaven County died shortly after being vaccinated against coronavirus. Preliminary findings indicate that the death may have been related to the ingestion of COVID-19.

As rumors about the matter surfaced on social media, county authorities decided to make the details of the case public. According to the information provided, the child was suffering from other illnesses. A few days ago, he received the second dose of the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine. Two days later, the child suddenly died.

Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of death was likely due to the vaccination

Due to the close temporal relationship, the public health authority has ordered an investigation into the case. According to the preliminary autopsy report, experts from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Hamburg-Eppendorf Clinical Hospital consider it likely that the death was due to vaccination. However, the final autopsy report is not yet available. Given the pre-existing medical conditions, another cause cannot be completely ruled out, forensic experts say. A county spokeswoman said the report will be ready soon.

Cases of death after vaccination are “extremely rare”

“We are dealing with an extremely tragic case here,” said the head of the Cuxhaven district health authority, Kai Dehne. “From a purely statistical point of view, serious vaccination complications that result in death are extremely rare, but the family that is affected is hit with 100 percent ruthlessness.” Dehne expressed his deepest sympathy to the relatives of the deceased child.
