18-year-old Ukrainian girl raped by an Iraqi and a Nigerian in a refugee center in Düsseldorf

This act causes anger and astonishment: a young woman was raped in a refugee center in Düsseldorf! According to the German BILD, the victim is an 18-year-old Ukrainian woman.

The rapists are a Nigerian and an Iraqi with Ukrainian passports

The crime took place on March 6: on the hotel barge “Oscar Wilde”, which now also serves as accommodation for war refugees from Ukraine, an 18-year-old Ukrainian woman allegedly fell victim to sexual assault. The act was committed in turn by two men from Iraq and Nigeria (aged 37 and 26).

Both of them also hold Ukrainian citizenship. The police have opened an investigation on “suspicion of rape”. In addition, among other things, it is to be clarified how the two alleged perpetrators came into possession of Ukrainian passports.

At the time of the crime, about 25 refugees were living on a barge next to paying hotel guests. The suspects are currently in custody. The prosecutor’s office in Düsseldorf confirmed the investigation on Monday when asked by BILD’s editorial team.

Politicians’ outrage

Politicians are shocked and outraged! Andrea Lindholz (51), vice-chair of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, said: “The police must take concrete steps to protect Ukrainian women by checking their homes. The Düsseldorf case obliges us to act immediately.”

The head of the Federal Police Union Heiko Teggatz also sees an urgent need for action: “Politicians should now do everything in their power to ensure that terrible rape cases like the one on the hotel barge in Düsseldorf do not accumulate. Harsh and swift punishment followed by deportation is the only language such perpetrators understand.”

Increasingly, police officers in the border area are encountering refugees who do not come directly from Ukraine, but, for example, from Africa.
